The Great Migration Adventure

Tour Overview

This is the one safari we never get tired of sharing with our guests. Over 8 days, we take you through Tanzania’s most iconic parks, and we do it in the right order, at the right pace.

You will stand at the edge of Ngorongoro Crater and look down at the Big Five moving below you. You will track elephant herds through Tarangire’s ancient baobab forests. In Lake Manyara, we will show you something most visitors miss: lions, sleeping in trees.

And then there is the Serengeti. Over 1.5 million wildebeest moving across the plains. Nothing prepares you for it. We have seen guests go completely silent at that moment. That silence is what we work for.

Day 1: Pick up from Airport – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast and a short safari briefing, depart around 8:30 AM for Tarangire National Park. Known as the paradise of elephants, this park offers a beautiful mix of open savannahs, ancient baobabs, and rich wildlife. It’s also home to over 550 bird species.

Begin your journey to the world-famous Serengeti. Enjoy a scenic drive with a game drive en route. The central Serengeti, also known as Seronera, is rich in wildlife activity year-round, especially big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

Enjoy a full day in the heart of the Serengeti. Choose a flexible game drive schedule with your guide, either a full-day safari with picnic lunch or split drives with time to relax at the camp. The area is known for predators, large herds, and dramatic savannah views.

After breakfast, drive north toward Kogatende for a full-day safari. Between August and October, this region is the best place to witness the dramatic Mara River crossings during the Great Migration. Wildebeest and zebra gather at the river’s edge, making this an unforgettable experience.

Explore the remote and wildlife-rich Wagakuria region near the Mara River. The landscape here includes kopjes, forest patches, open plains, and rivers. You may be lucky to witness a river crossing or observe predators stalking the herds nearby.

Travel south through the Serengeti plains with a game drive on the way. You will continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a protected region home to rhinos, elephants, lions, and more than 500 bird species. The highlands offer cooler air and scenic views.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world. The crater floor is rich in biodiversity and offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. You may spot the Big Five, including the rare black rhino.

After breakfast, visit Lake Manyara National Park, just a short drive away. This compact park features tree-climbing lions, baboons, hippos, and thousands of flamingos. After your game drive, return to Arusha in the afternoon where your safari ends.
