Descend approximately 600 metres into the crater and explore a landscape filled with grasslands, forests, lakes, and wetlands. During your game drive, you may encounter the Big Five, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and the rare black rhino, along with zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, and flamingos.

Morning: Journey to Ngorongoro & Crater Descent

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha or  at around 5:30 AM before starting the scenic 3.5–4-hour drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Upon arrival at the crater rim, stop at the Ngorongoro Crater Viewpoint to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Here, you can take photographs while enjoying a light bush breakfast overlooking the crater, creating a memorable start to your adventure.

After breakfast, descend approximately 600 metres into the crater floor and begin your game drive through grasslands, forests, and wetlands searching for incredible wildlife.

Explore the crater’s rich ecosystem, where wildlife lives in a naturally protected environment. Your guide will search for black rhinos grazing in the open plains, lions resting under acacia trees, elephants moving through the forest, buffalo herds crossing the grasslands, and hippos relaxing in freshwater pools.

Around midday, enjoy a special bush lunch at the Ngoitokitok Picnic Site, located near the famous hippo pool. While enjoying your meal, you may watch hippos in the water, zebras and wildebeests grazing nearby, and birds such as crowned cranes and flamingos around the wetlands.

After lunch, continue your afternoon game drive exploring more areas of the crater before beginning your journey back.

Enjoy your final moments inside the crater before ascending back to the crater rim. Begin the 3.5–4-hour drive back to Arusha, reflecting on an unforgettable day exploring one of the world’s greatest natural wonders.

Enkutoto Migration Camp

Enkutoto Migration Camp is a luxury mobile safari camp that moves across the Serengeti to follow the Great Wildebeest Migration. This gives you the chance to experience one of the world’s greatest wildlife events from the best locations. Depending on the time of year, you can watch the famous Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti or see thousands of wildebeest calves born during the calving season in the south.

The camp has 25 spacious and comfortable safari tents, including Family Tents that are perfect for families and a Honeymoon Tent designed for couples. From June to October, the camp is based in Kogatende in the northern Serengeti, giving you easy access to the exciting Mara River crossings. From November to March, the camp moves to Ndutu in the southern Serengeti, where you can witness the incredible wildebeest calving season.
